Swipe Technologies has launched Konnect 5.1 smartphone at a price of Rs. 3999. The phone is available exclusively on Snapdeal.com.

One of the selling points of the Swipe Konnect 5.1 is its 3000 mAh battery. As per the specs listed on Snapdeal, the phone delivers 10 hours of talk time and up to 220 hours of standby time.

The Konnect 5.1 features a 5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) TFT screen which has a pixel density of 225ppi.

The Swipe Konnect 5.1 comes with dual SIM slot and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. The operating system can be upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM. There is also 8 GB of internal storage out of which 3.96 GB is available to the user.

Samsung Launches Exynos 7 Octa 7870 SoC Mobile Devices

Samsung has unveiled its latest Exynos mobile processor—the Exynos 7 Octa 7870. The processor was earlier spotted in benchmark result listing for the Samsung Galaxy j7 smartphone. Samsung has announced that the SoC will be up for mass manufacture in Q1 of 2016.

The Exynos 7870 uses the 14-nanometer (nm) FinFET process and is designed for Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphones. This processor is Samsung’s first processor using the 14 nm FinFET technology.

The Exynos 7 Octa 7870 has eight Cortex A53 cores running at 1.6 GHz with LTE Cat.6 2CA Modem that supports up to 300Mbps downlink speed. The processor also supports full HD resolution video playback and 60 frames per second at 1920×1200 pixel resolution.

Samsung has announced that the new processor uses 30 percent less power when compared to SoCs utilizing the 28 nm High-K Metal Gate process.

The Exynos 7 Octa 7870 comes with an Image Signal Processor (ISP) that delivers 16-megapixel resolution images for front and rear cameras. It also delivers 8-megapixel resolution in dual-camera mode. Further, the processor comes integrated with GNSS solution for time-to-first-fix (TIFF) which provides for better location based services.

With increased performance and power efficiency, the new processor may be well received in mid-tier devices.

Huawei Honor 5X: Price, Features & Review

Huawei has launched the Honor 5X in India with a price tag of Rs. 12999. The Huawei Honor 5X features a 5.5 inch Full HD screen and is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

In the camera front, there is a 13 MP primary with LED flash module on the back. On the front there is a 5 megapixel shooter. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop customized with Huawei’s inhouse EMUI.

Design and Screen

The Huawei Honor 5X comes in a sturdy metallic body with plastic frames. The phone looks glossy and premium. Despite its metallic body and large screen, the phone is not very heavy to hold.

It should be noted that the back panel of the phone is not user-removable. In addition to the 13 MP camera, it also houses the fingerprint sensor which is very responsive. The front of the phone is dominated by the 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen on the top of which the 5 megapixel selfie camera is located. The notification light and earpiece is located above it. The phone features on screen navigation keys.

The top and bottom edges of the phone are made of plastic and the edges are gently rounded. The side of the phone houses the dual SIM card slot, volume rocker and power button. The speaker and micro USB slot are located at the bottom edge while the 3.5 mm jack is situated on the top.

The screen is responsive and images and videos appear crisp and bright. Colours are natural and well reproduced. Viewing angles are also decent and there is no pixilation. On the minus side, the screen is somewhat reflective and not so good under direct sunlight.

Performance

The Huawei Honor 5X packs a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor with 2 GB of RAM. There is 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128 GB via microSD card. Performance wise, the phone is pretty good. Apps open instantly and don’t lag at all. Chrome works very snappily even when many tabs are open. The call quality is good and there are no issues with reception. The phone doesn’t heat up even when you play demanding games or heavy apps.

The Honor 5X comes with a 13 megapixel camera that is decent in terms of image quality. It works well even in low lighting conditions but lags a little while focusing. This is one place where many smartphones fail to do a good job. The camera app comes with several modes like Panorama, HDR, time lapse, etc. The 5 megapixel shooter on the front is decent for selfies. It comes with some photo effects which allow the user to edit selfies easily.

Conclusion

The Huawei Honor 5X performs well in all aspects—aesthetics, display and camera. The fingerprint sensor is a major plus point for the phone. The phone is definitely a decent buy at Rs. 12999.
