Nokia 6: Specs, Features and Review

The Nokia 6 is the first Nokia-branded Android phone launched by HMD Global. Initially, it was launched in China but subsequently it has been launched in other countries as well. The Nokia 6 represents the first step for HMD Global in the Android smartphone segment.

HMD Global has also launched the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5 in India. The Nokia 6 will be available for sale on Amazon India. Amazon India has received over one million registrations for the first sale. The Nokia 6 is in high demand in India already. The brand has its own fan following.

Design

The Nokia 6 comes in a playful retail box in tune with the old Nokia days. The phone is well built as it is been milled from a single piece of 6000 series aluminum. The website says that the milling process 55 minutes for each phone. The strong build means that the phone can sustain some accidental drops. The phone is 7.85 mm in thickness and weighs 169 grams.

On the front there is Corning Gorilla Glass but it doesn’t extend completely to the edges and corners. The power and volume buttons are located on the right side. The 3.5mm audio jack is on the top and the charging port and dual speakers are located on the bottom of the phone.

The Nokia 6 comes with a hybrid dual-SIM tray that accommodates two nano SIM cards or one nano SIM and a microSD card. The fingerprint scanner is located on the front. It also serves as a home button.

The primary camera is located in an oval Chrome housing and gives the phone a similar appearance as Nokia’s Lumia phones. The camera comes with a dual-tone flash module. The camera protrudes slightly.

The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch display with good brightness and color reproduction. The viewing angles are good. The phone doesn’t feature an LED indicator for notifications.

Overall the Nokia 6 has a good design which stands out from other phones in the price segment. Its build quality is robust and will last the wear and tear of daily usage without issue.

Hardware

The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD screen. The screen has a resolution of 403 PPI. Under the hood there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor powers the Lenovo K6 Note, Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime and the Motorola Moto G5. There is 32GB of internal storage. The phone supports microSD cards up to 128 GB.

The Nokia 6 comes with 16 megapixel camera on the rear and a 8 megapixel camera on the front. Both shooters have f/2.0 apertures. The phones comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio enhancement. The dual speakers on this phone deliver loud and clear audio. Connectivity features include 4G with VoLTE, USB-OTG, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1.

The Nokia 6 runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The phone will also receive the Android O update as will other phones in the series.

The Nokia 6 is powered by a non-removable 3000mAh battery which delivers one day of mixed usage. Unfortunately, the Nokia 6 doesn’t support fast charging. The phone takes over two hours to charge fully.

Conclusion

The brand, design, and build quality are the biggest selling points of the Nokia 6. The stock Android makes the phone snappy. The confirmed Android O update makes the phone a good deal. Added to this, the high quality audio makes the phone a good option for music loves.
