List of Moto Phones that Will Get Android 8.0 Oreo Update

Moto has released a list of phone that will be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. Most of the current devices from Moto will be receiving the update. However, phones in the Moto G4 series that were launched less than two years ago will not be getting the update. Users having phones which will receive the updates will be able to update their devices in the Fall.

The Moto phones that will receive the Oreo update are:

  • Moto X4
  • Moto Z
  • Moto Z Droid
  • Moto Z Force Droid
  • Moto Z2 Force
  • Moto Z Play
  • Moto Z Play Droid
  • Moto Z2 Play
  • Moto G5
  • Moto G5 Plus
  • Moto G5S
  • Moto G5S Plus

Users can track the status of the update available for the devices by visiting the customer support page.

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will not receive the Oreo update. This is somewhat surprising because the devices are not even two years old and most companies provide support for up to two years. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus were launched in May 2016 in India. Updates for Moto X (1st generation) will no longer be available after December 2017. If you have not already updated your phone, you should do so as soon as possible.

The Android 8.0 update will provide improved performance, better battery life, split-screen feature, smart text selection and a number of other improvements. It also comes with enhanced security features.
