Google Glass is by all means the next revolution in the gadget arena. The days of smartphones and laptops may largely be over if this technology becomes a success. Essentially, Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD).
Currently, it is research and developmental stages. It is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project. It can provide information in a smartphone-like hands-free format.
Google Glass has not been launched in the market. Only a few prototypes have been made for testing and further developmental purposes. No specific price details are available for now. However, Google expects it to be priced at almost the same as that of a high-end smartphone.
Google Glass is currently not available in India or other countries for that matter. Even after it becomes available in other countries, it may not be available in India as the market here is not very large. After it becomes available, you may have to get it imported through third parties and that will be very costly.
When it is launched at the end of this year or the next year, it is expected to cost about $1500. Converted to Indian currency and adding other costs, it can cost more than 1 Lakh at existing rates of currency exchange. However, its price may come down in the future and there is also a possibility that other companies may start making similar devices..
