The Apple Store is finally coming to India. Apple has partnered with Tata-owned Croma which is a well-known consumer electronics chain in India to sell its products in India. Croma is India’s first large format specialist retail chain for consumer electronics and durables.
Apple will launch its products in six locations–Malad, Juhu, Oberoi Mall, Phoenix Mall and Ghatkopar in Mumbai and the Croma Store in Jayanagar in Bengaluru. This is a pilot project, which means that more locations are likely in the future. The stores will open before Diwali next month.

The new stores will feature the signature wooden tables and counters that are found in Apple stores in other countries. The design, furniture and lighting will also be exactly like other Apple stores globally. Further, the company will also provide training to the staff employed in the outlets.
Apple hasn’t had much success in setting up stores in India due to regulations which mandate local-sourcing. Partnering with Croma will provide the company with an opportunity to concentrate on consumer experience rather than dealing with regulations and other issues.
Apple’s products have been very popular in India with a growing user base. Apple has sold 1.7 million iPhones in India between October 2014 and September 2015. Earlier, the company had sold 1.1 million units. These figures are expected to show an upward trend in the coming years as the Indian economy continues to grow and expand.
