Archos Diamond 2 Note, Diamond 2 Plus: Price, Specs and Review

Archos has launched two new smartphones days ahead of MWC 2016. The phones are Archos Diamon 2 Note and Diamond 2 Plus. Archos will showcase the new phones at the tradeshow. It will also unveil new tablets.

The Diamond 2 Note is priced at $279 (about Rs. 19000) while the Diamond 2 Plus is priced at $229 (about Rs. 15500). Both these phones will be available for sale in May this year.


The Diamond 2 Note features a 6-inch 2.5D curved QHD IPS display @1440×2560 pixel resolution. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a pixel density of 490ppi. The phone is powered by the 64-bit octa-core Mediatek X10 MT6795 processor running at 2 GHz paired with 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM. Graphics are handled by the PowerVR G6200 GPU.

The phone has a hybrid dual SIM slot which can accommodate either two SIM cards (micro+nano) or a single SIM with microSD card. The phone comes with 32 GB storage which can further be expanded to 128 GB using the microSD slot.

On the camera front, the Diamond 2 Note sports 1 16-megapixel shooter with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) accompanied by dual LED flash modules. On the front there is an 8-megapixel camera with 84-degree wide angle BSI sensor.

Other features of the phone include support for 4G LTE (Cat. 40, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, IR Sensor, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and FM Radio. A 3610 mAh non-removable battery with fast charging technology powers the phone.

The second phone i.e. the Archos Diamond 2 Plus comes with a smaller screen: a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS wth 2.5D with DragonTrail front and Full Black Lamination and 400 ppi pixel density. It is powered by the 64-bit octa-core Mediatek P10 MT6755 processor paired with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and Mali-T860MP2 (700MHz) GPU.


The Archos Diamond 2 Plus sports a 20 megapixel camera with Sony sensor and laser focus accompanied by dual LED flash on the back. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with wide-angle sensor and flash.

Connectivity features include 4G LTE (Cat. 6), Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and FM Radio. The Diamond 2 Plus is powered by a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery with fast charging technology. Additionally, it also features a fingerprint sensor.

Both phones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
